Karena permukaan pada processor dan heatsink tidak rata sehingga butuh penghubung supaya panas bisa ditransfer secara maksimal. Jika tidak memakai thermal Paste, transfer panas/ heat dari prosesor ke HSF jadi tidak sempurna. Efeknya Prosesor akan menjadi cepat panas dan suhunya akan melambung tinggi sehingga komputer akan mati sendiri jika prosesor dilengkapi program otomatisasi suhu.
